GETTING STARTED
Whichever of our publishing programs you choose, your willingness to share in the costs of producing and promoting your book places you in good company. John Grisham, Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Edgar Allan Poe, George Bernard Shaw, Ernest Hemingway, Alexander Pope, Stephen Crane, Lord Byron, T.S. Eliot, James Joyce, Walt Whitman, Rudyard Kipling, Margaret Mitchell, Henry David Thoreau, and many other now-famous authors and poets all published initially at their own expense.![]() |
Every book we publish is unique in content and design. We must see your manuscript to estimate the cost to publish it, or determine its acceptability for our Five Star Special Edition, Shooting Star, or Noble House programs. We recommend that you submit a hard copy (not your original manuscript) to us so we can properly evaluate your work. This in no way compromises your right to copyright protection. You should also send along copies of the artwork you wish to use or suggestions about the types of artwork you want our designers to produce for you. We will promptly review your manuscript at no cost to you. In about four weeks or less you will receive our written response. |
If your manuscript is accepted as a Five Star Special Edition, Shooting Star, or Noble House title, you will receive our publishing contract. If your manuscript does not meet the requirements of those programs, or if you indicate that you are interested in self publishing only, you will receive an American Literary Press Edition cost estimate for producing your book. |
The cost of publishing your work is based on the following variables:
Send us a full, printed copy of your manuscript and a completed Specifications Form today. Include a self-addressed, stamped envelope if you want your manuscript returned. Receipt of every manuscript sent to us is promptly acknowledged. We will give it a fair and unbiased reading and, after discussion among our editors, will reply to you within two to four weeks.
